Frontier Announces Planet Zoo. Build and Manage a World for Authentic Living Animals in the Ultimate Zoo Simulation

Create your own zoo where animal welfare and conservation comes first in the brand new game from the publisher and developer of Planet Coaster, coming exclusively for PC in Autumn 2019

Cambridge, UK – 24 April 2019. Frontier Developments plc (AIM: FDEV) is proud to announce Planet Zoo. From the makers of Planet Coaster (2016) and Jurassic World Evolution (2018) comes the ultimate zoo simulation, featuring authentic living animals, rich management, and limitless creativity. Build and manage a truly modern zoo where animal welfare and conservation comes first. Simulation runs wild in Planet Zoo, exclusively for PC in Autumn 2019.

See the cinematic Planet Zoo Announce Trailer here.

Planet Zoo presents the most authentic animals in videogame history. From playful lion cubs to mighty elephants, every animal in Planet Zoo is an individual who thinks, feels and explores the world you build around them. They care about their surroundings and each other, with complex environmental and social needs. Nurture your animals throughout their lives, study and manage every species to see them thrive, and help them raise young to pass their genes onto future generations.

Manage your own zoo in an expressive world that reacts to every choice you make. Focus on the big picture or go hands-on and look after the smallest details. Thrill visitors with prestigious animals and famous exhibits, develop your zoo and research new technologies, and release animals back into the wild to repopulate the planet.

Unleash your creativity with the next evolution of Planet Coaster’s best-in-class creation mechanics. Craft stunning scenery and habitats, dig lakes and rivers, raise hills and mountains, and carve tunnels and caves as you build your own zoo. See your animals and visitors respond to your creative vision, and share your designs with friends in Planet Zoo’s online community. Bring the world’s greatest designs home to your own zoo for your animals and visitors to enjoy.

‘This is the zoo management game we’ve wanted to make for many years,’ said Jonny Watts, Chief Creative Officer of Frontier. ‘We’ve challenged ourselves to build on the games we’ve made before and to carry the great legacy of classics like the Zoo Tycoon series forward. We’re taking everything we’ve learned from our past work and focusing on modern values – incredible authenticity, rich management, limitless creativity and community sharing – to make our best-ever simulation game. We hope you’ll join us when Planet Zoo launches later this year.’

  1. Guys talk about the game not real life

  4. Habe erst gedacht da hätte jemand den Zoo Duisburg in Planet Zoo exakt nachgebaut. Komme selber aus Duisburg. Schade

  5. Copier

  6. Nürnberg hat auch Delfine

  7. The zoo where I live runs off donations. The land was donated with the stipulation the zoo would always be free. They make money with a cafeteria, gift shop, and donations. It's a small, but nice zoo. .

  8. There are too many crazy people in the Comment section, animal liberation my ass.

  9. Seriously, how much space doesn't dolphin need?

  10. I Like the Mountain Zoo In Halle very Much It is one of the only Zoos of this Kind of Europe as far I know. and have a always grown Variety of Animals. 2 Years Ago we got 2 new Animal Species Babary Apes and Mountain Zebras . And also we have African elephants, Seabears, Humboldt Penguins , Flamingos, Geese ,Ducks, and since 2017 I believe also our Erdwolves a Kind of Hyena 😀

  11. wer kommt auch aus duisburg

  12. Das alte Walarium befand sich auf der Parkmap rechts oben, hinter dem Delfinarium, unmittelbar neben den Tigern.

  13. the location of the beluga is totally wrong ;), The beluga was on the other side up in the north…. the new area for the tigres is there.

  14. Shout out to Düsseldorf 😉

We have many interesting Zoos in NRW. I personally prefer the Zoom in Oberhausen because it is separated in three continents and has a similar atmosphere to theme parks.
In every continent are appropriate animals and one attraction (safari boat trip, etc.).
There is even a professional term for the continental distribution (have to check it – we have to use it similar to Weenie for Planco ;-))
Zoos like Theme Parks try to build on immersion. If you are in an Africa area, you need to have the theme, decoration, animals and restaurants.
The Zoo in Cologne is currently renovating areas to be closer to this approach. Love that we can do this in PlanZoo as well

  15. Shout out to Düsseldorf 😉

  16. i hope you also see critical aspects of zoos and animal liberation

  17. Ich habe bei 12:15 abgebrochen.
    Auf was willst Du hinaus?
Wale und Delphine haben nichts in Zoos zu suchen – grauenhaft.
Mir wurde nicht klar, was Du uns sagen/zeigen willst, ich empfand nur, sorry, Geschwafel.
    Welchen Punkt habe ich verpasst?
    LG (ツ)

  18. Moin, ich bin auch aus Düsseldorf, was ein lustiger Zufall

  19. If you like zoos, you should really check at Pairi Daiza in Belgium !

It is a really nice zoo, lot of animals with very nice enclosure, and also lot of scenery in link with the aera (Japanese garden, small zoulou village, Thai temple ….). I also like this Zoo because it is engage with heritage conservation and animal preservation !

PS : It also have a nice steam train, and of course: Pandas.

  20. Interesting to learn a bit more about the Duisburg zoo. I have never visited it but the overpass with the green topiary of the word ZOO on top of it is very recognisable from the highway.

  21. The beluga whale you were talking about is at SeaWorld San Diego, his name is Ferdinand. I’ve gotten to meet him a few times, he’s such a cuddle whale.

On the topic of the dolphins, the Duisburg Zoo has coastal bottlenose dolphins. That species is found in shallow, sometimes barrier inflicting waters (like mangrove forests). The only reason why space is not a key factor for them in a zoo is because they do not have to be in constant search for food. They get all their food they’ll ever want. I’m actually a dolphin trainer at Dolphin Quest Bermuda, if you ever have any questions about dolphins I’ll give you my art site that’s linked to my email: www.artseaeli.weebly.com

Keep up the creative work, I love what you’re making on these games!

  22. Please look at the layouts for other zoo's as well. Maybe the ones that are the most popular in each country? America will be hard. We have one zoo per state. So choose which ones you like best. 😊

  23. Omg as I saw it say "Afrikanische Wildhunde" I was like : "I WANT THEM IN PLANET ZOO!!!"😍😍😍😢😢❤❤❤

  24. THIS IS A GREAT TOPIC. I do see if I were get PZ…I would probably try to build recreations of existing zoos. I may try to do a video like this for the local zoos that I grew up with and know very well. The history of how zoos change over the years is a great interest to me.

  25. I can't even do my homework cause I only have "Planet Zoo" in my head
    I can't even sleep at night😂😃

  26. There was a TV show back in 2005 called “Ultimate Zoo” on animal planet. Went all over the world showing the best zoo exhibits. Can only find some low quality videos of it on YouTube. But damn, that series would be perfect to reference for a zoo game.

  27. The closest Zoo to me is Blijdorp (Rotterdam), I can't really say much for the layout though I do know that the Red pandas there are really close to the entrance and have a knack for escaping. Also I just really want Red Pandas!!

Of course amazing video as always Rudi!

  28. I went to Duisberg Zoo a few years back, all the way from the UK. It was there I saw my first dolphin, my first koala, my first giant otter and my first kori bustard, amongst others.

  29. I wan't expecting to find out in a Rudi Rennkamel video what that bridge was over de 3 with ZOO spelled in bushes was , I so often passed. 😉

  30. It's a really good thing you are doing a comparison like this, I was hoping someone would. However I do have my concerns about the game in terms of zoo layout. The screens so far have all been very focussed on the big american style zoos, and not on the small scale stuff. You showed the Elephant exhibit as an example, and it's true that the screens so far catch that kind of feel, but if you look at any other exhibit in Duisburg Zoo you'll notice it'd be very different. The main difference between the Duisburg picture and the PlaZoo screen (PlaZoo masterrace btw) is the lack of indoor stuff in the game. The game so far just doesn't look very realistic in terms of zoo layout, but that's probably just down to Frontier wanting to cater to the casual audience who just want to see pretty lions. And to be fair, the lions are really pretty.

I hope the game will allow for aviaries and small scale exhibits with chainlink and such, and not just the open modern zoos for the sake of being politically correct. I'm confident it will though, Planet Coaster was looking like it'd only be for the Disneyworld parks, but then Planet Brocoaster came around, so I'm still optimistic.

  31. My go to zoo is the Fresno Chaffee Zoo, because it is the only zoo in town. There is nothing really special about it, it has a splash zone for kids to play in in the summer and a big sandbox type area that has fake Dino fossils that can be dug up. And you are right gift shops and cafe are important for zoos to make extra money, every path in the Fresno zoo leads straight back to the one of the two gift shops there.

  32. I really like the Zoo in Duisburg because of the Dolphins and the nice landscape but I have only been there once
